You visit a site and see a security seal and feel at easy. The truth is almost any web site can purchase a security seal for about $200.00 a year. The site is not checked daily as you may think. The fact is the $200.00 seal can be issued within 10 minutes to the site owner then posted on their site.

Some of the things I do when making a purchase on the Internet is to click the certificate seal and what type of certificate they use. I also have my Internet browser set to inform me of pages which are not secure when entering information. If my browser pops up and says " This page contains both secure and nonsecure items" and they are looking for personal information I am out of there. Usually this happens on a web page which you are asked to fill out a form or prior to a purchase. All Internet browsers today will show a padlock either on the top of the page or on the bottom. If you don't see the padlock do not enter any personal information, as it may end up in the wrong hands.
